[REAL] is an album set on a timeline where memories and imagination, anticipation and longing are intertwined, blurring the boundaries of the present. Between moments of looking back on a past love and times that have yet to come, we sometimes lose sight of the present, which should be the most ‘real’.

 Within those moments of love that cannot be clearly defined, the album freely crosses and continuously varies the time when it is not even clear where something begins or ends, or whether the emotions felt now are memories or anticipation.

At the same time, [REAL] is also an album through which the artist Shinwoo reveals himself most honestly through music. Taking a step beyond the musical experiences he has accumulated so far, he unfolds his story in the way Shinwoo of today most wants to express himself. Moving between various textures and moods centered around R&B, he freely expands his musical sensibility, from vocals and melodies to sound.

That is why the ‘REAL’ in [REAL] does not simply mean something that is real. It means showing his true self, while also being an answer to Shinwoo’s question of what is truly real. Music that feels unfamiliar and, because it has stepped away from what was familiar, has become even clearer. Within it, Shinwoo encounters a new point where his own world begins, between the music he has created so far and the music he will create going forward.

 Pausing for a moment somewhere between the past that has passed and the future that has yet to come, [REAL] is the first record to most honestly capture the ‘present’ of love, music, and artist Shinwoo.
